About Epilepsy Foundation Maryland

More than 50 years ago, some physicians and parents at Johns Hopkins decided that individuals with epilepsy needed support additional to their medical care. With that idea, the Epilepsy Association of Maryland was formed. Over the years, there have been changes in the organization's name, funding and leadership, but the goal to improve the quality of life for people affected by epilepsy remains the same.

In October 2017, a decision was made to become a chapter of the Epilepsy Foundation, creating the Epilepsy Foundation Maryland. As part of Foundation's nationwide network, the Maryland Chapter will increase epilepsy awareness and continue to provide education programs, support groups, information and referral, advocacy, family events, and scholarships to the nearly 60,000 people living with epilepsy and their families in our state
