The Epilepsy Foundation continues to celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month. From September 15th to October 15th, our nation honors the history, culture, and contributions of American citizens with Hispanic heritage.
Thank You Dr. Sirven

With this special month in mind, we extend a grateful, “Thank You,” to Dr. Joe Sirven, editor-in-chief of epilepsy.com and past chair of the Epilepsy Foundation’s Professional Advisory Board. Dr. Sirven, who is of Cuban and Spanish ancestry, has been committed to people with epilepsy and their families for many years through his work at the Mayo Clinic in Arizona, the American Epilepsy Society, the American Academy of Neurology, and more organizations.
Dr. Sirven strives to increase awareness about epilepsy and its challenges and treatments among the Hispanic community in the United States and in many other countries. He is known for delivering in-person programs, creating online content, and reaching out to Hispanic media in both English and Spanish. We are grateful for Dr. Sirven’s time, expertise, and compassion as the Epilepsy Foundation strives to increase epilepsy awareness and improve seizure education in diverse communities.
Raising Awareness Around the Country
We have many other colleagues from the Epilepsy Foundation’s advisory, editorial, and research boards and local Epilepsy Foundations nationwide of Hispanic heritage. We also celebrate their contributions to helping people with epilepsy everywhere!
