BOWIE, Md., September 15, 2026 — The Epilepsy Foundation announced today that registration is open for the 2027 National Walk for Epilepsy, set for April 10, 2027, in Washington, D.C. The signature event will unite people from across the country to raise awareness, celebrate resilience, and support the millions of people affected by epilepsy and seizures.
“The National Walk for Epilepsy is a powerful expression of what our community can accomplish when we come together,” said Bernice “Bee” Martin Lee, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Epilepsy Foundation. “Every step helps elevate epilepsy awareness, honor the strength of those affected, and move us closer to a future where no one faces epilepsy alone.”
Participants are encouraged to register, form a team, and invite friends, family members, and community supporters to take part in the national event.
“We are excited to bring our signature community event and fundraiser back to Washington D.C. next spring,” said David Hawk, Chair of the 2027 National Walk for Epilepsy. “The Walk is our community’s largest gathering to raise funds and rally for the 3.4 million people living with epilepsy in the U.S. Everyone who participates in the Walk for Epilepsy by leading a team, donating, sponsoring the event, or volunteering is making an impact for our community.”

About Epilepsy
Epilepsy is the most common chronic brain disorder in the world, affecting people of all ages, races, and backgrounds. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), nearly 3.4 million Americans live with active epilepsy. The condition is defined by a tendency to experience seizures—sudden, abnormal bursts of electrical activity in the brain that can disrupt behavior, awareness, and bodily control. Beyond seizures, epilepsy can also lead to challenges such as fatigue, memory difficulties, mood changes, anxiety, and trouble concentrating, all of which can significantly impact daily life.
