High-Quality Information Available 24/7
In 2016, the Epilepsy Foundation successfully completed a detailed professional accreditation process administered by the Alliance of Information and Referral Systems (AIRS). An AIRS accreditation shows that the Foundation is providing high-quality information to our community. Receiving this accreditation took 3 years and led to the Epilepsy and Seizures 24/7 Helpline reviewing their policies and practices, training, reporting, and evaluation.
The Helpline was evaluated in over 200 areas and met the requirements of the AIRS accreditation process. Several of the helpline's information specialists also advanced to Certified Information and Referral Specialists through AIRS and have also received training in suicide prevention. The Epilepsy & Seizures Helpline is the first national helpline to receive accreditation by AIRS.
In addition, the Epilepsy & Seizures Helpline opened public access to its resource database, allowing members of the community to search for helpful services related to epilepsy in their area.
