Call for Applications: AAP Children and Youth with Epilepsy Advisory Committee

The American Academy of Pediatrics’ (AAP's) Children and Youth with Epilepsy Advisory Committee (CYE AC) for the National Coordinating Center for Epilepsy is accepting applications from young adults with epilepsy to serve as representatives.

The CYE AC includes health care professionals, such as physicians and nurses, non-profit organizations, federal agencies, and other young adults/family liaisons. These representatives help guide the strategic direction of the AAP National Coordinating Center for Epilepsy to improve access to quality health care for CYE across the United States.

Ideal Candidates

• Young adults with epilepsy (age 18 – 26 years).
• Have the ability and willingness to share experiences and perspectives as a youth with epilepsy to help inform the strategic direction and improve care for all children and youth with epilepsy.

Members will be expected to

• Serve a two-year term from November 1, 2019 – October 31, 2020.
• Attend one in-person national meeting per year (expenses paid). This meeting will usually be in spring and will last 1-3 days.
• Participate in quarterly virtual meetings that will last approximately one hour each.
• Actively engage in the CYE AC by expressing personal viewpoints through:
  • Reviewing and commenting on proposed activities of the National Coordinating Center for Epilepsy
  • Providing feedback on items such as policies, procedures, and educational materials on an ongoing basis, as needed.
• Actively engage in the work of the CYE AC by expressing personal viewpoints and issues.

Serving on the CYE AC is a volunteer position; however your expenses (travel, meals, lodging) will be covered for the in-person meeting.
