Pursuing My Passion Despite Epilepsy

I was diagnosed with epilepsy when I was 2 years old. It was a completely unexpected diagnosis. My family never saw it coming. They thought I was going to be an average child growing up with no health issues or risks, but sadly, epilepsy was one of the things I had to deal with over the years while I was growing up.
It was challenging for my family and me. We always struggled to find doctors and the right medication. Finding a doctor was the hardest thing I had to deal with. Epilepsy took the things I loved away from me, too. I had to start over in a lot of ways. I am still working on gaining everything back that I once loved.
Overcoming the challenges I faced because of epilepsy has been a tricky thing, but overall, I am doing well. I have learned to stay on my medication. I focus on those who love me and treat me well when I don't feel like myself. My doctor told me to get a hobby, and I fell in love with airplanes. It is my passion to be a flight attendant. I care for my mental health above all else and always keep a happy smile and positive attitude.
My advice for others who are living with epilepsy and seizures is to try to focus on the happy things around you and not the negative things and to stay on top of taking your medications. Surround yourself with people who love you and can make you feel comfortable.
I want people to know they are not alone because we all go through something every day. Epilepsy is just one of those things, and while it is not an easy thing to deal with, you are not alone on your journey.
