Gardiner Lapham RN, MPH
Gardiner Lapham RN, MPH, is a passionate epilepsy advocate. After losing her 4-year-old son to SUDEP ten years ago, Gardiner immersed herself in efforts to expand epilepsy research and understanding. She served as Board Chair of Citizens United for Research in Epilepsy (CURE) and was a founder and three-time chair of Partners Against Mortality in Epilepsy (PAME), a biannual conference that unites researchers, clinicians and families to advance SUDEP prevention and understanding. Gardiner currently serves on the International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE) Global Outreach Taskforce and is a trustee of a family foundation that seeks to advance epilepsy research and care. Prior to losing her son, Gardiner worked as a health policy adviser for the humanitarian organization CARE and as an emergency room nurse at Atlanta’s Grady Memorial Hospital. She also served on the boards of the Washington Free Clinic and Whitman-Walker Heath in Washington, D.C.
