Puberty Seizures?

Wed, 04/04/2007 - 21:10
My daughter was diagnosed with complex partial seizures when she was 6 years old. By the age of 8 1/2 she was finally seizure free and off all medications. She has not had any seizures until now age 12. She has just started her period. Has anyone ever had any experience with this.

It's like my biography in a nutshell.I am 29 and had seizures when I was born. They got under control until puberty at 13.Since then I've been like a guinea pig tying every medicine available and had no success controlling them. They usually happen when my cycle begins and until it ends.Unless I get sick under stress they are controlled until my next cycle.I don't think mine will end until my periods end.I have had them so long it just became like a routine and personally decided no more screwing with meds I have been trying to control them for 16 years and finally am in a place where it has become as routine as brushing my teeth.I have had to deal with it so long if they were under control I wouldn't know what to do with myself regarding all the options it opens up.I hope for the best for your family.

My seizures first started about the time I was 13. The first 13 days before my 13th birthday. (Weird huh?) Anyway I had started my periods only a few months earlier and I think I was due to start around the time I had it so maybe there is a link.
