Hi
Talk to you doctor and tell me what you are observing. As the parent of the child you not your doctor knows your child the very best and I have learned that if you do not talk to your doctor about it they will not do anything about it. My son was on tegretol and he started have seizures more often and as they upped his dosage he seized hard and more times in a day. He could not eat, was throwing up and was miserable and he was only 7 months old so he had no input. I told the doctor he was doing terrible...he said that my son needed an adjustment period to see if he would tolerate the med. After 7 days of misery extremely long seizures (over 30 minutes) many times a day I was adamant about taking him off the med the doctor finally agreed and when they started to wean him off the seizures lessened and when he was taken off the tegretol completely he did so much better.

Dear SteviesMom:
I was put on Lamictal when Tegretal wasn't controlling my siezures and I still continue to have siezures. I still, taking both medicines, have about 2 siezures a month. Which is about the same as before. I have not had any improvement but the side effects are tough. One of things my Dr's did was change the way I take the medicine. Instead of taking both the Tegratal and the Lamictal at the same time. They wanted me to take my dose of Tegretal then 2 hours later take the Lamictal. They felt that the medicines could be working againist each other taking them together. I am seeing a new Nerologist next week so I am anxious to hear his opinion in all of this. I am hoping he will take me off it. I don't know if this info will help you or not.
