I am currently on 400 mg of Lamictal and it has caused more absence seizures. It has however kept me from having tonic-clonic seizures. I went to the doctor yesterday and he put me on 500 mg of Keppra to take along with it. I don't really enjoy taking another medicine since I am also on Effexor for depression but we'll see how it goes. I also have noticed the inability to fall asleep easily and waking up several times a night but I'm so sleepy now with the Keppra that might solve the problem. All I have to say is it's better than Phenobarbital.

Lamictal can cause insomnia and you will get more seizures because of the loss of sleep. Has your daughter lost alot of sleep?
