I dont know how old your daughter is, but I got insomnia from it. SO I lost alot of sleep and had more seizures during the day from that.

My daughter has absence and generalized frontal lobe seizures she hasn't had any grandmal seizures. She is 8 yrs old and was diagnosed at 4 yrs. She is currently taking lamictal and zonegran she definietly has MORE seizures now than she did before she ever started taking medications, my husband and I have discussed possibly taking her off of medication, but of course are afraid of what could happen. She's been on depakote, zarontin, lamictal and zonegran. The dr. is talking about keppra and that its the last that can help her combination. It's VERY frustrating I know.

I read the reply from Steph102171, and wanted to respond that my 8 year is also on Zonegran & Lamictal. In July, the neuro told me to go up on the Lamictal (for the 2nd time), and within 10 days I was backing him off (for the 2nd time) b/c he went from (2) 4 minute episodes that were moderate in severity per day to (3-4) 6 to 10 minute episodes which were much more severe per day. The Zonegran has worked in the past for our son, but the side effect (he retains body heat, he is sensitive to quick changes in temperature, and he has not sweated a drop in a year... and it was in the upper 90's the last week of summer break!) makes him have terrible seizures. Now our neuro says she "feels strongly" about the VNS. I just don't know. She says there is no need to try any more meds, even though there are a few left to try, because either the VNS will work for him or not.
