HI Everyone, My name is Kathryn I am new to this website. I am 22 years old and I had my first gran mal seizure when I was 6 weeks old. I am going to do an observation within the next two months to see where my seizures are coming from. The reason why I am doing this is because when I have an EEG at the hospital and I've done the weekened EEGS nothing shows up on my EEGS and I've had seziures while I am doing the EEGS but the machine doesn't pick them up.

HI there Henry,

Stress is the caused by many different  kinds of seizures. I have to watch my activities and tell myself to not stress. My Dr says it is very often if you so stress the seizure will continue. I am on Keppra for my seizures and so far I get them yearly with adional month. I have Grand Mal seizures. When I was 2 days old  had a brain Hemerage and I had a seizure while getting a physical exam . My left temperal lobe was damaged.  Anyway I understand the frustration. I am able to drive but every time I get into the car I worry a bit. I have to live my life the best I can.  My doctor told me that I can do anything in life just not scubba dive ever. Thats it. I am in my thirties and doing great.I am married and have a beautiful 9 year old daughter.

If I had a wish I would take all kinds of Seiures away. Mine are horrible and I wouldn't wish it on anyone to even have it for 30 sec. My Longest was 45 mins and I suffered a bit of brain damage from it.  I also have had visons also  from time to  time. thanks for listening. I'm new to this also. Arwyn

Arwyn,

Thank you so much for responding. I keep forgetting that there are many types of stress. Last month after I had my 4 day, 24 hour audio and video E.E.G. my doctor told me that I should see a Psychologist/Psychiatrist to discuss my seizures. I feel that when doctors can't find a cause, they are too quick to advise their patients to seek mental help. While the technician was removing the "bonnet" I was in for the E.E.G. she and I were talking. I told her that back in March 2006 my Mother passed away and for some reason, I was not able to morn her properly. I never cried at her burial and come to think of it, I never cried even at the nursing home where she died. In October 2006, I had my first ever seizure. The E.E.G. Technician said that it is a strong possibility that this may have brought on the seizure. My Mother always told me that she didn't want to die in a nursing home. When she came to New Jersey to visit me, she fell in our bathroom and fractured 3 ribs and was hospitalized on and off from September 2005 through March 2006 when she died. To this day, these two incidents have plagued my mind. I feel that I let my mother down and that I lied to her. I love my Mother very much, but for some reason, I could not cry.

I thank God that I've never suffered any Grand Mal seizures. The worst that happens to me is that on occassion I do black out. It's because of these black outs and not knowing when they will hit, that I took myself off the road even before my doctor made the same decission.

Arwyn, please keep in touch. I think we can help each other. Have a great day and I'll look forward to hearing from you again.
