HI Everyone, My name is Kathryn I am new to this website. I am 22 years old and I had my first gran mal seizure when I was 6 weeks old. I am going to do an observation within the next two months to see where my seizures are coming from. The reason why I am doing this is because when I have an EEG at the hospital and I've done the weekened EEGS nothing shows up on my EEGS and I've had seziures while I am doing the EEGS but the machine doesn't pick them up.

I just had my first seizure on Wednesday...was hospitalized and now this new road begins...I found it interesting readying your blog here as I've had the same. In learning about this all being new to it, I see that the way I've been feeling the past two years and leading up to this. I think I've actually had a seizure before and just did not know what it was...I go for an MRI next week again, had an EEG Tuesday and was just put on Lamactil. I am in Jersey visiting family and saw doctors up here. I go home to NC on Wed and will get with my doctors there. I currently am not working and have no insurance so.........would love to discuss more with you. Since the 19th I've felt like I got hit with a mack truck and sore sore sore...........

Jeannie,

It's nice to hear from you. It seem that a lot of people out there are suffering from seizures. I would be most happy to keep in touch with you regarding your progress.

You are lucky that you can have an M.R.I. At present I have too much metal in my body to have any kind of an M.R.I. 4-5 years ago, I had a Neurostimulator installed in my lower back to control my chronic back pain. Then about 3 years ago, I had a TrapEase Filter installed to control my susceptability to blood clots and finally in Feb. this year, I had a Morphine Pump installed to give me greater pain relief.

Have you asked the Epilepsy foundation to send you any literature concerning your seizures? I did and I was astonished by the triggers that bring on seizures. Since 2007, I was on Keppra, doses from 250mg. and up to 500mg. three times daily and I was also on Meclazine 25mg., three times daily. My neurologist also prescribed Lyrica 75mg. three times daily and finally was taking 100mg. three times a day. After my 4 day, 24 hour audio and video while hospitalized, the test concluded that my seizures are non-epileptic but are brought on by stress. I never heard of that. Since the test, I was taken off the Keppra and Lyrica because they were not working. At this time I am on Meclazine 25mg, three times daily and Gabapentin 400mg. three times daily. Having seizures is not fun at any age. I guess at my age, I am able to deal with it better, because I understand what is going on in my body. Since I've been off the Keppra and Lyrica, I still suffer from seizures, up to 15 seizures a month or more.

Glad to hear that you're visiting my home state, New Jersey. I hope you enjoy the visit. I look forward to hearing from you and have a safe trip to North Carolina.
