Need a Little Advice for TLE

Hi All, Since being diagnosed with TLE, 1yr ago after a GMal, I have had what I now know as Complex Partial seizures for the past 2-3 yrs. For a long time I just thought I was having major Déjà vu type experiences. When I had an EEG and MRI they both showed nothing unusual. My confusion is that I have been told that I have Complex Partial Seizures but from reading info I understand that you generally lose consciousness and although I cannot speak nor really understand what is being said during the episode, I can gesture and am completely aware of my surroundings. Depending on the degree, I am sometimes confused afterwards for a bit. Anyone else with similar symptoms. I am on 1000 Keppra a.m. and p.m. and still can have 1-3 per day. Some days none. The neuro has suggested I up the meds by 500mg per day to try and control. Tks, for any thoughts and best wishes, Rita

"Complex partial seizure: An epileptic seizure that involves only part of the brain and impairs consciousness; often preceded by a simple partial seizure (aura, or warning)." http://www.epilepsy.com/epilepsy/glossary.html NO change in consciousness = NO complex partial! Awareness does NOT exist when they occur. If you remain aware (to any degree..like even if the consciousness is altered...,) the partials are simple. Simple Partials: http://www.epilepsy.com/epilepsy/seizure_simplepartial.htmlst ~sol I'd be willing to bet that those of you, who retain awareness yet have their Dr say they are complex partial, are going to neurologists (whose focus includes all problems of the entire brain and spinal cord) not epileptologusts (direct specialists in the 40+ types of epilepsy) who have a greater insight. Many of the writers in epilepsy.com are epileptologists

hi so glad to hear that other experience the same experiences as myself.I was diagnosed with TLE over 10yrs ago,as you I do not lose consciousness, and am aware of people talking to me my neuro diagnose mine as complex partial seizures which until recently after using this web site i didnt know what they were.Iwas on just epilim chrono 1600mg per day for nearly 8yrs and they managed to keep my seizures under control. But for a reason which I can not explain they have come back in the last 18months with vengance sometime 2to 3 a day which leave me really wasted.Trying to explain to people what you experience I have found really difficuilt because sometimes I cant explain it to myself.Since being refered back to neuro I have now also been precribed Keppra as well as epilim so If I dont have a siezure I tend to sleep I havent found that the Keppra have stopped the seizures really at all.But maybe they will after awhile.I was also told that most people have a sort of aura before a seizure eg smell taste I havent experienced any of these at all that i can recall I just seem to know that bang I am going to shut down and my body fells heavey and cant speak to anyone but can understand what going on around me buts its like Im in this sort of bubble,I do feel extremly tired afterwards and am very unsteady on my feet sort of like Im drunk the need to sleep is overwelming and I tend to sleep for any thing up to 2 hours.Well thank you for taking the time to read this my experiences
