memory loss...

Sun, 04/22/2007 - 02:18
so i know that everyone knows what im talking about if they can remember reading this :P i have a great memory unfortunately it is VERY SHORT!!! i can't remember anything. i forget a conversation while i am still having it. when im at work (and my job is to deal with the public) and i am giving directions to destinations or trying to make reservations i forget where they are wanting to go or the proper protocol for making the reservations. i also forget the simplest of words which then make me look like a fool because it looks like i don't know my job which i do. what on earth can i do to help this situation? its really quite frustrating. this is my rant... thank you for listening... or reading... or whatever.... :P

Mentioning feeling like an Alzheimer's patient reminded me (now ain't this a turnaround --- remembering instead of forgetting!)My Mom's best friend just passed away from Alz's and I have been reading more about it. Some of the meds used for epi seem to be working for early stages of Alz's. Looking at both from a big picture perspective, its like Alz is long term memory loss of recent history and TLE is short term version.

Boy am I glad to hear that others have this problem. I laugh about not knowing why I just stood up to leave the room, but I find myself doing this often. Trying to remember to pay bills is a hugh problem even. I guess there are more people out there like ourselves than we thought. Vickie

I also have real bad memory loss. My boss looks at me like I am crazy when I have to put a sticky note on everything. Some of my co-workers think I am just trying to get out of doing some things (I don't know why). It makes my boss even more upset when I have to as her the same questions over and over again. I mean, I cannot help the fact that I have this problem. I just get on EVERYONE's nerves when I do this. I just wish some of my co-workers could be in shoes, so that they would know how it feels to be like me (us). I work in medical records at a doctor's office. And of course, we have to file a lot of paper work. I forget where to file things, etc. I will be talking to someone. If I stop for a sec to do something, I will forget what I was talking about. Like I said earlier, if I have to do something, like go by the store, I have to write down the things I need or I will forget what I need when I do get to the store. I have a hard time of thinking of words or what somethings are called. During my WADA test, even before it started, I knew what the objects were, but I could not think of the names. That is embarrasing. One question, has anyone ever had the problem of saying stuff and the words come out wrong. When I was at Subway one day, I wanted to order a Grilled Chicken Sandwich. When I went to order, I ended up saying a Turkey Sandwich. The bad part is, that I did not notice what I said until the lady started fixing the turkey sandwich instead of the grilled chicken sandwich. The same thing happened one day at Taco Bell and one day at McDonalds. I mean, I know what I want the whole time. It just comes out wrong and do not notice what I said. It is embarrasing to me, but it also makes the cashiers mad, when they tell me my order, and I ask them if they could change the order (since I ordered the wrong thing). I hope I am not the only person that does this. Does anyone else have this problem?
