drugs questions (mushrooms)

Its seems as though no one has started a disscussion on th positive and negative effects of marajuana(If any). As well as the bodys reaction to other drugs(mushrooms). Not to exclude anyone but if you have teperal lobe damage your info would be much apprieciated. In my own personal expereance I can say without a shodow of doubt that marajuana kept me seizure free for 3 years, however I Did have a seizure when I abrubtly quit after 3 years of daily or near daily usage. Now analyzing this info is simple enough, If you stop taking your seizure medication you will have one. Now this is where many conclusions can be drawn, and differences in individual resonses to drugs can be seen. Please feel free to post your info.                                                                                               If anyone has experiance with epilepsy and mushrooms  please post your info good or bad and it will be recieved with gratitude.

PS keep this disscussion as professional as possible

Oh Dayna. Tis not for me to say but....and I know you love your husband but.....nothing like applying a little guilt about our past lives. My theory? We have epilepsy therefore our past lives come under a microscope. What about those who do NOT have epilepsy? How well would their lives stand up microscopically? My husband is a reformed alcoholic of now almost 15 years. No one knows that unless he tells them and he doesn't tell new doctors. He's open about it with certain others. I don't have that luxury. He rear ended SO many cars when he was actively drinking I quit letting my children or myself get in the car with him if he were driving AND he agreed! Lucky for him he doesn't have sz's. Our car insurance was staggeringly high. When I had my knee replaced? The pain was absolutely unbearable for about 6 weeks. I had punishing physical therapy in my home, twice a day, and as it turns out that's probably why it did hurt as exquisitely as it did. I've now found out my knee should have been given a "rest", and I should have had PT 3x a week, not 14x a week. My knee surgeon scripted me 100 percocet a week. I know that sounds like a lot of percocet but at the time? I just barely made it thru each and every week on that large amount. The receptionist of my knee surgeon was always trying to establish a friendship with me that I really didn't want. There was something "off" about her. So what happened was I'd call in for my weekly percocet refill, she didn't check with the doctor, she'd say sure come in and pick up your script, she'd fill out a script using his DEA number and did so for 8 months. I admit I DID think my doctor probably didn't know she was doing this but I had to work on my feet and...I continued taking a lot of percocet, later vicoprofen - all for 8 months. One evening I got a call at home from my doctor who said he wanted to see me in his office NOW. In the evening? I went and here he was with an official from the DEA. The deal was I was to cough up the name of his staff who had been calling in my scripts, because he wasn't aware of it, or I lost my nursing license. I asked what would happen to the staff member? I wasn't told. I wouldn't give her up for the longest time but when finally the DEA guy said okay - your nursing license will be suspended I had no choice - I gave him the name of the receptionist. As it happens she, her husband and mother had been using people like me with good insurance. She'd call in or write out multiple scripts all over a large metro area (5 patients of this doctor). So, I got 200 percocet or vicoprofen scripted a week in pharmacies that weren't interconnected by computer. I'd pick up script for 100 tabs innocently, they'd pick up the other. My insurance was the one who contacted the DEA. They'd go and pick up the scripts masquerading as the patients and were fencing these scripts on the street. So I was also suspect for fencing narcotics which was quickly cleared up, but was darn scarey. THEN I had to withdraw from 8 months of heavy narcotics. I quit working for several weeks with a big loss of income until I knew I was safe as an RN again. I fault no one but myself though, I knew better. Kaiser Permanente put me on low dose morphine for 2 months for my shot back that has auto fused. I took as little as possible. Moved, lost my pills anyway, and went through THE worst withdrawal and I started sz'ing at that time too, but there were also other circumstances such as an abrupt drastic raise in altitude, starting a new job, and other severe stress. But when my first neuro said - you probably started sz'ing because of your "morphine use", as if I bought it off the streets, I felt like a criminal! I told him so and he stated - scripted narcotics is the new "white woman's 'street' drug". What an A**.When I had liver failure this winter? How many people get asked do you have tatoos? Have you ever shared needles for any reason with any other people? How many sexual partners have you had and in what time period? Were you ever an alcoholic? A "closet alcoholic", another "white woman's" affliction. WHAT street drugs have you tried? If you have? How did you purchase them? And on and on. Now who all gets THESE kind of questions? I have a low sz thresh hold, so do you, and why we do and why others do not, can not be ascertained by those who casually question us. So there. I think - you're cool. In fact I applaud your honesty. I think more of you for sharing.Gretchen

I have never done mushrooms but I did read on another website that it can induce seizures. As for marijauna I read that it prevents seizures but not to be used alone with out epilepsy medication and I have no problems with it .

To whom it may concern:

I will give you a little heads up on some things in life.  Marijuana may be a very mild drug, but it is very addicting, maybe not  physically but mentally.  Yes it may lower the amounts of seizures that one takes, but it is a very addictive drug.  One that stops suddenly will face mood swings and feel negative thoughts about themselves for a very long time.  With regards to mushrooms, STAY AWAY from shit like that.  Believe it or not, it is straight poison that you will be putting into your body.
