drugs questions (mushrooms)

Its seems as though no one has started a disscussion on th positive and negative effects of marajuana(If any). As well as the bodys reaction to other drugs(mushrooms). Not to exclude anyone but if you have teperal lobe damage your info would be much apprieciated. In my own personal expereance I can say without a shodow of doubt that marajuana kept me seizure free for 3 years, however I Did have a seizure when I abrubtly quit after 3 years of daily or near daily usage. Now analyzing this info is simple enough, If you stop taking your seizure medication you will have one. Now this is where many conclusions can be drawn, and differences in individual resonses to drugs can be seen. Please feel free to post your info.                                                                                               If anyone has experiance with epilepsy and mushrooms  please post your info good or bad and it will be recieved with gratitude.

PS keep this disscussion as professional as possible

I'm 32 yrs old, taking 1200 trileptal since 2002, and I recently did some mushrooms. They were blended into chocolate, a "professional" job, and they caused tension in my neck muscles, but otherwise relaxed the rest of my body, stoppped all those worries in my head, and allowed me to feel the air entering my lungs with every breath, helped me to appreciate all that had around me at the time, and gave me general peace. When I purchased these mushrooms I was so worried about my epilepsy that I did a ton of research on psilocybin mushrooms, and eased my scientific mind. I had done acid before I had my head injury (leading to E) and I had done shrooms in 1997, when I wasn't on anti-seizure meds, but I was seizing. I was in a bad environment that first time, yet I didn't seize. This time I didn't either. I smoke MJ to ease my mind and create a better connection between my son and husband. It brings out my creativity, and helps my mind focus. I find that creating a routine dose with MJ helps my stability, but I have to balance my diet with it, too. It dehydrates, so I'll drink a little gatorade mixed with water, and eat fruit and other healthy snacks when I get the munchies. So, I'd love to do mushrooms again, the next time my mom keeps the kid overnight! The feeling only lasts or 6-8 hrs. unlike acid, which you can't control, and it can last for double that!!

All I know is that I have spent a big enough part of my life walking around in a fog due to epilepsy. I often feel disconnected and like time is out of wack. I have never understood why anyone would enjoy this experience. It reminds me of being stoned. I am in my foties now and haven't done drugs for over twenty years. I just want to feel awake and lucid. It is so nice when I do feel like grounded and focused. I feel alive, capable, and vibrant. The rest of the time I feel foggy, sleepy, and ....strange.

Thanks Sara for responding to the given question so well. I have recently been diagnosed with Juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy (although i am 26) I am keen know how epilepsy and potentially the anti-seizure meds (Epilim) interact. My own personal experiences have highlighted that alcohol and sleep deprivation have been a MUCH bigger influencer to my seizure propensity. As a quite experienced user of mushrooms and mdma over 8+ years, I have only had one seizure after a mushroom experience (out of 100+ experiences) and that was most probably due to sleep deprivation and emotional stress from a unrelated fight with my partner. These experiences were pre meds and naturally I'm keen to ascertain if these experiences will translate when on anti-seizure meds. For me mushrooms are very much a meditative/shamanistic journey and to rule out something that provides me with so many lessons and imparts such a lasting feeling of calmness and clarity seems pointless (especially since stress is such a big seizure influencer for me) Sara so that i too can satisfy the scientific part of my brain, do you have any links to the research that you undertook regarding the interactions with meds and mushrooms? It would be great to read these in further detail as a refreshing alternative to the 'drugs are bad mmkay' approach of some health professionals. Thanks
