drugs questions (mushrooms)
Thu, 05/19/2005 - 22:59Its seems as though no one has started a disscussion on th positive and negative effects of marajuana(If any). As well as the bodys reaction to other drugs(mushrooms). Not to exclude anyone but if you have teperal lobe damage your info would be much apprieciated. In my own personal expereance I can say without a shodow of doubt that marajuana kept me seizure free for 3 years, however I Did have a seizure when I abrubtly quit after 3 years of daily or near daily usage. Now analyzing this info is simple enough, If you stop taking your seizure medication you will have one. Now this is where many conclusions can be drawn, and differences in individual resonses to drugs can be seen. Please feel free to post your info. If anyone has experiance with epilepsy and mushrooms please post your info good or bad and it will be recieved with gratitude.

I'm putting this out there for any parents or any people who may find this helpful. I'm in my mid 20's, I've had grand mal seizures since I was 20 and I've experimented with quite a few drugs in my day. Marijuana, Ecstasy, AMT, GHB, Opium, Perscription Meds, Alcohol. I don't advocate drugs or alcohol for anyone with epilepsy as I understand that everyone's epilepsy is different. I will say that I no longer drink alcohol or take most drugs. I find that drinking alcohol will without a doubt cause a seizure. It took me a long time to realize that. In terms of the "hard drugs" and perscription meds I no longer do them. Now, marijuana is another story. I regularly use marijuana. I feel that, in terms of my epilepsy, it helps dramatically when RECOVERING from a seizure (biting my toungue, falling down, hitting head, etc.). I find that it helps with stress management. I think it also helps me to go to bed earlier (when that's my intention), and to make sure I eat and stay hydrated. I am a white collar worker(rather not say what I do). I work with people on a daily basis. I work until 12am or 1am sometimes. I think I am coming to terms with my epilepsy and I'm doing an okay job. What I'm trying to say is, if you are taking perscription meds under a doctor's supervision or you smoke marijuana (reasonably) then I'd bet you'd be okay. For the people who'd like to take drugs recreationally... If I were you I'd follow this quote closely, "Pigs get fat, Hogs get slaughtered". If you are going to use be smart and use in moderation. You should weigh the risk of doing something + possible after effects versus the experience and reward. Like I said, I don't advocate drugs or alcohol, but they are a reality even for people with epilepsy so they need to be addressed. I'd be interested in hearing if anyone has had any experiences with Mushrooms. Just wondering because it is another natural substance.
