alcohol and simple-partial seizures

Tue, 01/10/2006 - 20:01
i was diagnosed two years ago with simple-partial seizures and have been on 150mg lamictal twice a day since then. the thing is, i never had anything past a simple-partial and they happened pretty infrequently, maybe 5 per year. i see many people on this board inquiring about alcohol and seizure disorders, but its seems like many of these people have grandmal seizures, not my condition. i was just wondering whether the risk of having a seizure (if you've only had simple-partials) while drinking maybe 4 or 5 beers is increased as much as it is for people that have more severe seizures than i do.

Am very sorry about your problem.I knew that alchol and seizure disorder can affect  our career, relationships with family and friends, and most importantly, self-esteem and self-confidence.We  have  good news that mostly 80% of people are overcome by this disorder. There are medicians available in the Market.I guess you can go with that.

The risk of having seizure (especially in your case) while drinking alcohol can definitely increase. I would suggest not taking any chances. Moreover, seeking an expert advice is always advisable. You can call toll free helpline number: 800-708-4156 or go to http://www.drugabuse.com/ for more information on this.
