12 year old with complex febrile seizures

I have searched everywhere trying to find any parent that has had a child with febrile seizures over the age that most children outgrow them....to no avail. My son has had complex febrile seizures since he was 13 months old, he is now 12 and half years old. His latest seizure was yesterday and once again accompanied with a fever due to a case of strep throat. Our neurologist told us a year ago that my son is in the 5 percent of children that have them over the age of 7. But, I, however can not find any child/parent that has had our same experience. Will my son ever outgrow these seizures? I am disheartened. I had been told for years that he would, but he has not. Why is he not outgrowing them, when most children do? Please.....any answers?

My daughter is 8 years old and she had a febrile seizure the other day,. The last two seizures she had was between the ages of three and five and I was told that she would outgrow it, next month she is getting a sleep study done to see what kind of brain wave activity is going on just a due process of elimination,,, best wishes and prayers to everybody on this website

I have the same worries. My daughter is 10years old and had her last febrile seizure when she was 10 years old and 5 months. I was also told that she would outgrew this. I refused to have her on epilepsy drug because she is not epileptic. Her eeg just came out today and it is also normal. I have a friend who told me that she knows someone who had febrile seizure and it lasted til the girl was 12 years old. She is now 20 years old and has no febrile seizures anymore. We hope to get there soon!
