Hi there, There's no way you should be drinking at all with just about any meds that your taking for Epilepsy I know that sounds harsh but believe me it's a mistake I've made far too often it the past. I'd say even more so with meds like tegretol which had a sedative-like effect with me so adding alcohol to this would be insane. With me the tegretol seemed to slow life down and give me severe double vision as well as making my panic attacks worse. I know what I'm saying is purely from personal experience and that with meds its very much a case of one man's meat is another man's poison. Like I say that's my experience but as for the alcohol I'm not judging you but it's not a good idea. Andy

whether or not I am drinking

whether or not I am drinking , within an hour after taking my medicine, I get the most horrid itchy feeling all over my body then my skin turns red like I have a sunburn. I have reduced my medicine by half and that took care of it ... Has this side effect ever happened to anyone else on carbamazepine or Tegretol?

Hello Joe, I had been on tegretol for several months, when I suffered from basically the same thing. It ended up that I suffered from an anaphylactic shock reaction to the med, after several months and had to go off of it immediately. I'm not saying this is what is happening to you, but any rash or itching should be reported immediately to your doctor.
