Trileptol Side Effects

My name is Lisa and I am 32 years old. I live with Epilepsy and was taking Tegretol when my doctor switched me to Trileptol claiming that this medicine would be better on my body in the long run. I have been taking Trileptol for about a year and I started having dizzy spells with irritability. I told my docter this and he ordered a blood test and it came out normal (so he says). I am very concerned about this and would like to know if anyone else has had these side effects also.

Hi Lisa, I'm Lisa too and my 13 year old daughter, Gailin, has been on Trileptal for the past 4 years. She was not having any side effects until we had to increase her dose to 1800mg a day and now she is dizzy every day and complaining about headaches all the time. She is also irritable, but is that from the meds or just being a 13 years old girl? who knows. I just know that it is difficult to explain to people that being on any of these meds is going to cause some side effects, which we all are willing to accept so that there are no seizures. Good luck!

I was on trileptal for about four years or more. I sometimes had dizziness. But I thought possible it was caused by the meds, but also didnt get enough sleep that night. For I didnt have it often.
