Trileptol Side Effects

Tue, 01/23/2007 - 16:37
My name is Lisa and I am 32 years old. I live with Epilepsy and was taking Tegretol when my doctor switched me to Trileptol claiming that this medicine would be better on my body in the long run. I have been taking Trileptol for about a year and I started having dizzy spells with irritability. I told my docter this and he ordered a blood test and it came out normal (so he says). I am very concerned about this and would like to know if anyone else has had these side effects also. -Lisa

Hi Lisa, I was recently switched to Trileptol from another med and the only side effect that I have noticed is nausea and tiredness, especially in the mid afternoon. I hope it helps.

Thanks for your comment. About 30 minutes after taking the med I get very dizzy, tired and irritable. I had a blood test to check the level and my doc said it was ok. I am very concerned and I feel that my dr doesnt believe me.

I had a follow up w the doc yesterday and ask her and she said it is common to feel sleepy after taking the pill in the mid afternoon. And she keeps asking me if I have any mood changes, so from that statement I can tell that the pill maybe can affect your moodiness. ?Then again I'm not a doc.
