Epilepsy and Memory Loss

Sun, 10/08/2006 - 19:36
I'm brand new to this forum. Looking it over, I don't see my major problem & don't have much info about it. I have lost alot of my memory & it supposedly is because of seizures. I have been on Neurontin since I had some blackouts, which I guess are called Absence Seizures. I just blank out & my eyes get glassy. I want to know if the memory loss & "feeling weird" are the result of having Epilepsy, or could they be from meds? I also take Effexor XR for depression. I tried to go off that when I thought maybe I'd been mistakenly diagosed with depression before they realized I have Epilepsy. That resulted in some very bad mental & emotional health problems. I'm taking both now, & the memory loss & (sometimes)weird feelings persist. Anyone out there know anything about these issues?

Hi Seizuremom: Thanks for responding to my letter. It sounds like you have a better doctor to work with than before. We all get to "complain" a little here, so don't worry about that. But I can tell you, getting a positive attitude will do wonders...and you can help that happen alot by asking God to guide you...let Him into your life and ask Him to take control of your thoughts. You might read my response to Ivy which is in this same group of letters. We're all in our 50's and have memory problems, and it is a comfort to know that we're not alone...but there are positive things we can do to improve our health and situation. Stop worrying about your memory, focus on being positive, take notes on important things to help you remember. As of today, think positive and smile at someone else who needs to be reminded that they are important too! Love Terri N.

Terri, Yes, I'm interested in Zija and would appreciate your help in attaining some. I am also a lacto-ovo vegetarian...found out when I eat meat I am more prone to having szs. How was your weekend? We had our first freeze here and I dread any cold weather (if it's not 100 degrees...it's cold! LOL) Am more prone to stay inside, which is not good either. Have two dogs that I'll have to walk more often to get them/me more exercise. Have had a job for almost 40 years (Uncle Sam has been my employer the past 23.) Looking forward to your response. ivy

Ivy: I emailed directly to you the info needed to get the Zija product...1 5.5oz. can a day made from the Moringa Tree for great health. Where do you live? We are in Washington (east side) and it's been so warm here, that it's like Hawaii! About 65 to 70 during the day and still 60 all night right now. It's rained and everything is flooding. On the coast they've seen salmon swimming acrossed the freeways! Really! It was on TV! Hope you're having a good week. Try to get a handle on anything that causes you stress or makes you uncomfortable...then decide to "not give up your power" as Dr. Phil's Wife says in her new book. Deal with it in a constructive healthful way for you! Blessings, Terri N.
