I have found that the chat rooms and message boards on crazymeds.org are great, especially for teens and twenty-somethings.  They have a great community that your parents might not quite understand, but I find the information very real and no bull.  Give it a try.

Well I am not your age. But you should talk about it for it will eat you up inside. For when I was a teenager I started to cry to someone in school for I was NOT ALOUD to talk to anyone about it. Plus people should know, for if something could happen to you and no one would know what do for you. And you could be dying and no one would know what to do, and why this happened. My son went to the prom with his girlfriend. On the way to the prom the girl had a seizure. He knew she was going into it for her hand was shaking. He knew what to do for he has seen me. But she should have told him. That was not safe to do.And the more you tell others now, the better and easier it will be for you.http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/EpilepsyApproach/lisa

Dear Nicole, My name is Frank, I am 27 years old, I first got diagnosed with JME at 16, but I had it before then. As for me personally, when I was your age, it was the worst decade of my life, I hate to say this but it's gonna get worse for you, especially with school and sleep deprivation, feeling ostracized from your friends because your condition dictates that you live a healthy drug free life (well, not counting the lamictal.) while your buddies get smashed and have a good time while they keep asking you if you want a drink (peer pressure stuff, it's a bunch of alki's who feel guilty cause they drink too much.) I've been on lamictal for a year now, and its ok, I take 200mg in the morning. My last medication, caused hair loss, (boy did that suck!) I am happy to say the effects of the drug are wearing off. This site is really great for you, get as much knowledge as you can to help you with your JME, you can learn faster from other peoples mistakes. But your JME is yours. it's not like mine or anybody elses. You're gonna have to be your own doctor, and find your own cure, don't depend on doctors, they only give you drugs because they don't want to cure you just make money for themelves and their buddies in the pharmasuetical industries. if you or anybody else wants tips on a better lifestyle to help cure you of this "burden" e-mail me at: fanourios78@cox.net I'm about a year away from my cure, and confidence is the key!
