any teens feel Out numbered

Hi Everyone my name is Gina. I am 17 years old and a junior in high school. I have had epilepsy since I was 8 mounths old. It has been very hard on me all these years. does anyone else feel this way? I realy wish that i could drive because all of my other friends can. This past time I went to see my doctor which was only a few weeks ago and she told me that I have tried almost all of the seizure medications that I could go on. I felt very sad when I found out like someone punched me in the stomach. I hope that I am not the only person with epilepsy who feels this way.

I'm from Ohio, and a Junior

I'm from Ohio, and a Junior in High school and I have JME. I'll be 17 next month. I get Myoclonic jerks many times a day, but the don't cause me to drop things or fall over. I also get tonic-clonic seizures too. I've had my first tonic-clonic seizure when I was in 8th grade some time in December of 2003. I had two, and went seizure free for about a year and a half. Then they came back in the spring of 2005. Since then I've been having about a seizure a month. For about 2 years before my first tonic-clonic seizure I had tons of absence seizures. These were induce by excessive talking. I would be talking to someone and I would just stop. My mind would then go blank and my my mouth would start to jerk. I would recover from that after about 5 seconds and think that I finish what I was saying. Back in May my Trileptal quit working period. My doctor hospitalized me due to the unusually high (for me) Number of tonic-clonic seizures. After that they put me on Lamictal which is working fine so far. It even got rid of my absence seizures. I still get the Myoclonic jerks though. I still take Trileptal because I'm afraid to get off it. When we tried back in May I had two in one week. In the last month I've had three insaid of the usual one; we just increased my dose to see if it helps me. JME is something that normally sticks with you and requires you to take medication for your enter life. I don't think that I will ever be allowed to drive a car; even though every one says I will. Even though I have it better off than allot of people with a norm of one a month, I'm sure I hate it just as much as allot of you guys do.

Hi aux10 does it realy bother that you have Epilepsy. I feel very bad for you. Lamictal works good for you. For some reason when I was on Limectal and it didn't work for me. I am sorry that you can't drive. Don't worry because I can't eather. my seizures are not that bad but in california you have to be seizure free for at least 3 months or more. I feel like having from having epilepsy my whole life has helped me by learning how to be a stronger and more happy person. If it wasn't for epilepsy I wouldn't be this happy happy and brave of a person. If you had to choise at least 1 good reason for having epilepsy what would it be. ok it was nice talking to you and lets keep in touch Take care and think on the bight side of epilepsy of how we learn new things
