any teens feel Out numbered

Thu, 01/25/2007 - 23:31
Hi Everyone my name is Gina. I am 17 years old and a junior in high school. I have had epilepsy since I was 8 mounths old. It has been very hard on me all these years. does anyone else feel this way? I realy wish that i could drive because all of my other friends can. This past time I went to see my doctor which was only a few weeks ago and she told me that I have tried almost all of the seizure medications that I could go on. I felt very sad when I found out like someone punched me in the stomach. I hope that I am not the only person with epilepsy who feels this way.

My parents take me where ever I need to go as well. I have trouble with school and stuff. I have always had trouble trying to remember espically what I read. I see Learning ability as my major weakness as well because no matter how hard I try I don't get that much better then it seems. Almost everyone on my swim team know that i have epilepsy. Are you realy afraid to tell people that you have E. I am sometimes but most of the time I am not. When i was realy sick I use to have to go to the doctor all of the time. I didn't like it that much. What i have learned from being very sick is that we should try to make things more fun at the doctors then then they realy are. Do you think that that is weird. its ok if you do. Ok i will talk to you later. K.I.T from Gina

does your word or letter move around or they wiggle when you read?? no i don't think that it wierd, we should make it more fun at the docter. man being an 18 year old i hate going to the doctor but when i get there i'm like a 2 year old i would sit in the room and play with the flash light, bandage,or if one of my sibling come along we play operation on each other. when at first i was afaird of telling people, but people started to ask what was going on when i would have these attack during class. i open up about even joke about it around my friend i can't rid of it so i have to find a way to live happy with it effecting me everyday.

Hi I am very happy to her from you. It is realy nice to know that i am not the only person who has seizures in their every day-life. What exactly happens and how do you feel when you get a myoclonic jerk. I have simple partial and partial complex seizures every day. I a very sory that you found out that you were diagnosed whith epilepsy the day before you 16th birthday. I don't know what I would do if that happened to me. You are like the only persn that I know who has learned that it is realy not that bad having epilepy. I think that it has made me a stronger person in many different way like I am not afraid to tell people about it. Are you afraid at all or feel realy weird. Does it bother you that you can't drive. I do sometimes because I feel like I can't get around as easily as everyone else. Do you have to go to the doctor and the hospital alot. I just see my doctor a few times a year just to make sure my medicen is ok. What medicen are you on right know. I am on Lyrica and Trileptal. I saw my doctor a few weekes ago and she told me that I only have 3 drugs left to try till I find a drug that realy works for me. It was nice talking to you. I hope to keep in touch with you. Take care From Gina
