Hi! My name is Jenn. I had a right temporal lobectomy in March 2000 at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, FL. I have been seizure free ever since. I was on Lamictal for 2 years post surgery. The surgery has to be best thing I have ever done.  My email is jenn32807@yahoo.com if anyone considering surgery has any questions.

Hi, my name is Kara. I had right temporal lobectomy last April. I was wondering, what kind of side effects did you have after the surgery?

Brandcherl, I'm facing the possibilty of having surgery next year. I have complex partial seizures. Mine are like 2-3 every 3months getting closer all the time. As I've tried new meds the will work great like at first I was at 6 months. I use to have seizures every month 1-10 a month before my new drug combination. My doctor feels that since drugs can't control them and my seizures are caused from an accident that I'm a great candidate for surgery. My temporal lobe lobectomy will probably be a right side to start but could be a second one on the left side. They aren't sure if the right side is triggering the left side or it's caused from the damaged cells from my accident. I'm scared about a lot of things. what I will rememeber, I'm working right now and have a great job that I want to keepif possible but it's not my top priority. I wonder how it will effect my sex drive. How I will talk I think of the simple but probably stupidest things it will effect. I want to be able to drive and totally independant! I don't want to become dependant. Any insight you can give me will be helpful. WendyS
