I have been on lamictal for about 5-6 years now. Lamictal took me about a month to get used to. If you were like me, it knocked me out and took all of my energy when I first started it. Once my levels were established I felt better than I had ever felt. I even worked in corrections and as a deputy sheriff for 8 years if that tells you anything. I have sworn by lamictal. You will find out that some seizure medications can take a toll on your liver. Dilantin is one and as my new neurologist just told me, lamictal is the worst. My liver enzymes are double what they should be. But, every medication has different results on each individual. What didn't work or hurt me, may not hurt you and work great for you. It's a matter of hopefully finding that one medication that allows you to have the most normal life you can. As for my suggestions, get plenty of sleep, minimize your stress and don't overdue your caffeine intake. Little to no alcohol goes without saying. You will probably feel a seizure coming on if you drink to much. All things that you have to learn along the way.

Sasewaw I started taking lamictal aprox. six month's ago. I was aware of Dilantin having an effect on the liver but not this. Just like every other medication I've been on it has not worked to keep my seizure's under control. I really never noticed any major side effect's with lamictal other than being more tired for the first week.

I started taking lamictal a short time before your age. I successfully finished high school in 1998, then graduated from college with an honors degree. I am greatful for the Lamictal that I take for my seizures because they keep my seizure free unless I forget my doses or if I get extreme inadequate sleep. Feel free to e-mail me any questions and don't be scared of anything because I never was. Ebay@Bensplace.net Best wishes, Ben
