Untreated Partial Seizures of TLE

Sat, 03/28/2009 - 23:59

Is there any information about people with simple partials who don't undergo AED treatment?

Not being flippant here but seriously....what happens?

The side-effects of all the meds seem horrifying, and I don't lose consciousness,

Is epilepsy progressive?

Do these little seizures cause brain damage?

I’m 14 and for the past

I’m 14 and for the past couple of years I’ve been having Deja vu moments. I get light headed, my heart rate rises, I become out of breath. Then when it’s done I get a headache, and I’m very out of breath. I had one of these episodes yesterday and I decided to look up my symptoms, it brought me to the conclusion that I might have epilepsy. I know I should get it checked out but I can’t go to the doctor for a while and my mom won’t believe me if I tell her.

I truly appreciate the "kindling" information .  I have been googling it today

what's truly hard for me are examples of what simple and complex seizures can be like. the descriptions you can read on wikipedia and even this site, don't give a clear experience of them.  when you said,

"(the dividing line between simple and complex seizures is confounded
by the lack of a valid and objective definition of consciousness"

it makes me have trouble differentiating between the two.  for example sometimes I will get confused a bit and have trouble executing my words, finding the right words, and stumbling over words,  normally I am highly articulate and can annunciate clearly and quickly.  would this be a complex or simple?

and the disgusting taste I get sometimes indepedent of eating food, or even only right after brushign my teeth.......what is this an example of?
