Untreated Partial Seizures of TLE

Sat, 03/28/2009 - 23:59

Is there any information about people with simple partials who don't undergo AED treatment?

Not being flippant here but seriously....what happens?

The side-effects of all the meds seem horrifying, and I don't lose consciousness,

Is epilepsy progressive?

Do these little seizures cause brain damage?

 Pam,

Exercising even if it is a 10 minute walk a day and gradually increasing and a balanced diet.  Medication is fine. When a patient procastinatinates on taking medication or forgets taking medication things occurs.  When I was on one medication I had no side effects

I started off not taking medication via family religious beliefs.  When I got older and was officially diagnosed, the Neurologist was impressed upon the way I was able to handle things.  When I was 18 I started taking medication.  I had not taken medication for 10 years.  They told me I would of been under control, unfortunately I found out now that I am 55, my abn below my lobes and lies on my 4th ventricle which a special MRI that finely slices detected my abn..  Medications helped but at the time when I was diagnosed MRI where not being used.  CT were just in the picture.  My job was in the field of Neurology research.   They have come a long way since the 70's.

I have had status epilepticus attacks 5 times and probably more and I am very healthy because I try to watch what I eat and exercise.   I have had 2 brain surgerie and a VNS and I asked if that would effect on how long I would live and they said no.  They said just eat appropriately and exercise!  It seems what you hear from all the doctors!

I believe in good exercise and diet for everyone. Medication as needed.
