Lamictal, memory loss and getting memory back

Sun, 12/14/2014 - 23:42

Hi,

I have been on Lamictal 300mg for about 4 years. My loss of memory and inability to pull out words has gotten to the point where I'm not enjoying life. Holding a conversation that lasts a few sentences has become embarassing. I was wondering if anyone who has been on lamictal and taken off has had their memory return. I will talk to my doctor but the last time I went in they tried to convince me that the meds had nothing to do with memory loss.

Thanks,

Donna

When I came off it, my memory started improve after about a month. 12 mths on, it has improved somewhat, but not to the point where I can go back to work. The specialists told me that my memory will return to normal in time. Keep in mind that Lamotrigine causes many health problems.Good luck.

I have had epilepsy all my life. Took epilim and topomax. Did terrible at school and had serious concentration problems. However since starting lamotrigine i have found the complete opposite. I am currently studying IT certifications and have 2 under my belt. I am more alert. I have excellent memory and never loose items anymore (Unless my wife moves them). I have even written a novel. I am about to ask for an increase as I think work stress and studying has triggered some mini seizures so i will see if it effects me any differently.
