Lamictal, memory loss and getting memory back

Sun, 12/14/2014 - 23:42

Hi,

I have been on Lamictal 300mg for about 4 years. My loss of memory and inability to pull out words has gotten to the point where I'm not enjoying life. Holding a conversation that lasts a few sentences has become embarassing. I was wondering if anyone who has been on lamictal and taken off has had their memory return. I will talk to my doctor but the last time I went in they tried to convince me that the meds had nothing to do with memory loss.

Thanks,

Donna

Your post has me in tears. I feel like it's my entire life summed up in one post. I had all these feelings before the lamictal, but the racing thoughts have quadrupled because of the memory loss. Any social interaction is mentally exhausting. I take it for Bipolar, my doctor is switching me to gabapentin. I'm praying this will work because bipolar disorder and lamictal for me make life almost unbearable. Have you tried gabapentin?

I’m 44yrs old and diagnosed

I’m 44yrs old and diagnosed with complex partial seizures in 2015, it was the worst time in my life.  I felt like I lost everything and was just handed pills and told to take them until it feels like somethings wrong.  I tried to hide my anger but I think that made it worse.  I felt like I was in a vortex of negativity.  I have the best support system and they have been saints; I hated me.  The best thing I did was tell my Epileptologist, he put me on Lamotrigine (aka Lamictal). The rage you’re feeling (in my experience) is bc of the Keppra, for me it’s the devil.
