Hi: My 9 year old son weighs about 95 lbs. (he's tall and stocky) and is on 50 mg. in the am and 50 mg. in the pm. (He takes a 100 mg pill cut in half 2X a day). He does well on this dosage. What struck me about your email is that when he was first diagnosed in December 2005 he was tapered up to 100 mg. in the am and 100 mg. in the pm (Lamictal does go by weight). After a couple of months on this RX he exhibited the same symptoms of toxicity as your daughter - especially the tremors which were so embarassing to him. I immediately went to his neuro who had him tested and thus adjusted his his meds downward. Moral of this story - though with his weight the 100 mg 2X a day is appropriate - each person's system is different. It is VERY important to have your little one tested and have her meds adjusted accordingly or even changed. With that high dosage she should not be having seizures anyway. I think (my humble opinion!) that she needs to be re-evaluated and soon! I hope this helps! God bless you and your little one. I will be including her in my prayers! Maureen

Katy takes 137 mg in the morning and 150mg at night but she still had a seizure 2 nights ago Im so scared for her I Love her and fell so helpless If she shouldnt be having seizures with such a high dose of meds then why is she do you know of anything else other than Epilepsy that could cause these THANK YOU and GOD BLESS

Hi Lisa: I think that the best thing you can do is take her (again and again if you need to!) to have her evaluated by her neuro. There are so many different types of seizures that it is sometimes difficult to pinpoint or match the meds to the seizure type. Unfortunately, many times it is trial and error (of course under a watchful medical eye). As I said, everyone is different so maybe it's more than the wrong dosage, maybe it's the wrong med for your little Katy. Or maybe it needs a little more time? I know it's so hard and painful to watch our little ones go through this. Katy is lucky to have such a loving mommy. Hang in there. Learn all you can. Remember that you know your child better than anyone else - you are her voice - be heard! I'm available any time if you'd like to "talk"! Hugs, Maureen
