photosensitive diagnosis 7 yr old?

Hi,I,m a new member neurotic mom of a seven yr old girl.I was falling asllep one night, she was nest to me, I hada "normal Jerk". when this happened, she informed me that she gets jerks and shakes on the playground "only in one area of the playground. I thought she was crazy till i started reading about photosensitive epilepsy. She is scheduled for aan eeg on wednesday mar. 24th.I am discouraged because of so many reports that eegs are not always accurate in diagnosing seizures. she describes the seizure in great detail: upper body stiffens, sholders up, head back hands with fingers straighted and pulled toward thumb, up on toes. It's amazing she has not fallen backward when you see the position she is in. she also hears echos. lasts about 5 seconds. upon inspection of the area where this occurs, there is a fence with one inch slats, when you walk past, light flickers through. seven year olds do not make up this kind of detail. If anyone else has photosensitive epilepsy or has info on the diagnosis of such, can you please let me know? Also, if anyone has an idea of what type of seizure this may be classified as? thankyou!

You have probably already had your EEG or EEGs done by now and gotten the result. It should have tested positive from just those, if she is photosentive, because normally they will flash a strobe light either right on her eyes, or with her eyes closed, and if this is the case, she will have seizures on the table. If not, the other possible seizure type could be tonic. They stiffen up exactly as you have described her doing, and yes, be ready for it, because eventually she will fall over from that as is happens. It can depend on her level of consciousness as well, maybe she was leaning against something before it started so she couldn't fall. Who knows. The voices she hears for 5 seconds prior to it would be called an arua. I get one anytime I am going to have either type of partial seizures. I smell a god awful odor of urine and dust toghether. Then I have the seizure. sometimes Auras by themselves are called simple partial seizures, in the fact that they are actually a small seizure that leads up to the bigger of the two. People or children can hear something not there, usually voices or music, see something that is not there, feel a sensation that is not happening, smell things that don't exsist and it is usually unpleasant, taste things that aren't there, again, like the smellers, the tasters taste a nasty taste. Then you have the ones who have a strange sense of De ja vu, feeling like where you are at is familiar when you have never been there, and Je mais vu, meaning that familiar things are now strange to them, and then there is one, that causes visual disturbances where things will look brighter than they are, bigger than they are, or smaller than they really are.Aura gets it's name from the latin term meaning "cool breeze".I have 4 types of seizures at only 30 years old.Let me know what they came to the conclusion with as far as her diagnosis and EEG.nancy
