Does anyone have rapid heartbeats before a seizure??
Tue, 11/15/2005 - 09:33I am a 26 year old female and have had seizures for the about
6 years now. The cause is unknown. Every month or so I go
through "episodes" of rapid heartbeats. After a day or two they
stop and don't start again for another month. Other symptoms
include A tingling sensation, mood swings, and a really bad
taste in my mouth no matter how much listerine I gargle.
I don't always go into a seizure that lasts long but I have gone
into a grand-mal a couple times. The Dr. I've been seeing
doesn't think these episodes are seizure related and prescribed me paxil and then effixer. Neither worked and this Dr. suggested I see a shrink! I am changing to a new Dr. and am willing to have the brain surgery to stop these and have a normal life and eventually have children.

Hi
Sometimes my heart rate can increase during an aura/simple partial seizure but I think for me that is due to anxiety because I know that I may Go into a tonic clonic seizure. I know after my seizure I have a very high heart rate apparently it can be around 140.
If you are not happy then differently seek a 2nd opinion.

Has your daughter had a tilt table test? I've had similar symptoms, and my titlt table was abnormal. My blood pressure and heart rate are fine when lying dowin or sitting but when I stand my pulse and blood pressure shoot up rapidly above normal, then quickly return to normal when I lie down again. This causes a variety of symptoms inculding weakness and wobbly legs. I'm still waiting for confirmation from the doctors, but I think this is known as POTS syndrome. You should see if her symptoms worsen after she is lying down, then standing still for several minutes.
