Deja vu

Tue, 04/05/2005 - 08:00

Hi, my name is Lisa and this is my first time posting.  I am 39 years and a mother of two daughters.  About 18 months ago, I had two experiences of deja vu.  After the deju vu feeling passed, I had a strange feeling in my stomach (like being on a rollercoaster).  These deja vu experiences were about a week apart and I believe only lasted a second or two.  About two weeks after these deja vu experiences and had a "doom" feeling.  I was in the bathroom and this intense feeling of dread happenned followed by that strange feeling in my stomach.  After these incidents I feel very "foggy" and tired.  I called my family practioner and he ordered an MRI which was "normal" and showed no lesions.  He asked if I wanted to see a neurologist but I declined because I thought it would never happen again.  Well it did--last Friday I had two more episodes of Deja Vu, once when I was laying in  bed and again about an hour later.  I know they were deja vu and at the time intense, however I cannot remember what the particular dream sequence was.  I called my family practioner and he has referred me to a neurolgist that specializes in seizure disorders.  I cannot get into the neurologist until late May? Am I on the right track here?  should I request certain tests?  does an EEG only show irregularities while having a seizure?  Also, I am afraid to drive in case one of these episodes occur.  Thanks!

Like you, I've all all those

Like you, I've all all those tests plus an epilepsy test and Dr couldn't come up with anything either.  I'm researching the vagal nerve now and downloaded an app for breathing which sounds like it's beneficial to the nervous system.  I also found a book today called DAILY VAGUS NERVE EXERCISES....my "episodes" seem to be triggered around exercise but the last one was last week while walking thru the grocery store but I had one earlier that day while doing yoga....what a mystery!  Be well.

I've experienced similar

I've experienced similar dejavu experiences without stomach or intestinal challenges.  Usually starts in my right arm as a feeling of heaviness and then moves to my upper body.  I go into a "dream like state" but just for seconds and it always feels like I've been there before...but I can't remember where "there" is afterwards.  I'm able to talk to myself and breath thru it. I've never lost consciousness. I've had many tests: MRI with & w/o contrast, EEGs, seizure, but no diagnosis. I had several head traumas growing up: fell in a tub, hit in the head with a pole, a major car accident and the last one was I hit the back of my neck/head with a dumbbell....experienced temporary amnesia with all four incidence. I'm researching the vagal nerve and how breathing can affect your autonomic nervous system and also the pysiological impact of trauma.  I also experienced what was diagnosed as an ocular migraine a couple years ago.  Just putting this info out there wondering if others have had head trauma? All of my experiences began about 20 years ago I think..
