Deja vu

Tue, 04/05/2005 - 08:00

Hi, my name is Lisa and this is my first time posting.  I am 39 years and a mother of two daughters.  About 18 months ago, I had two experiences of deja vu.  After the deju vu feeling passed, I had a strange feeling in my stomach (like being on a rollercoaster).  These deja vu experiences were about a week apart and I believe only lasted a second or two.  About two weeks after these deja vu experiences and had a "doom" feeling.  I was in the bathroom and this intense feeling of dread happenned followed by that strange feeling in my stomach.  After these incidents I feel very "foggy" and tired.  I called my family practioner and he ordered an MRI which was "normal" and showed no lesions.  He asked if I wanted to see a neurologist but I declined because I thought it would never happen again.  Well it did--last Friday I had two more episodes of Deja Vu, once when I was laying in  bed and again about an hour later.  I know they were deja vu and at the time intense, however I cannot remember what the particular dream sequence was.  I called my family practioner and he has referred me to a neurolgist that specializes in seizure disorders.  I cannot get into the neurologist until late May? Am I on the right track here?  should I request certain tests?  does an EEG only show irregularities while having a seizure?  Also, I am afraid to drive in case one of these episodes occur.  Thanks!

Hope Lisa is doing good. The deja vu feelings are a bit worrying. I have Nocturnal Epilepsy but had 1 absense seizure also four years ago. I got up off the Sofa and walked over opened the bin and closed it not knowing only my wife told me. But I have to say alot of the Dejavu and dream stuff sounds like Nocturnal problems. I hope nobody gets a seizure. But dont worry medication controls it no problem. If the dejavu is too frequent maybe meds could be safe too of course with GP getting you a Neurologist. They can be expensive but worth every penny. I find tiredness is a big trigger on dejavu. Flashing lights no troubles. Reduce alcohol and keep fit was slways my Neurologist tips also. Best of luck everyone and dont worry too much you be good.

Hi, I have read your post and subsequent comments. I have been experiencing similar episodes. They have varying degrees of strength but I can always tell it is about to happen. I will be doing normal daily activities and something will trigger the deja Vu feeling of having experienced the moment before. My mind will start seeing the event happen as it wants instead of how it is. I usually start getting flush and quickly lay down on the ground because I have passed out from it before. I've been told I have minimally shaken during the 5-10 second episode. Afterwards I feel like I've been either hit by a truck or am coming off of a bad night of drinking. I have read a little bit about the possibilities and I do believe it could be Temporal love epilepsy. At one point I was in the NICU holding my newborn son, felt the experience coming on, quickly put him on the table, next thing I know I'm coming to with the nurses around me.

Hi my name is Sidney, i am 15 years old and i have been experiencing these things as well. Once i was in the middle of class and i was taking a test and all of a sudden i was having an episode and i felt very light headed and like i was gonna pass out and i was having deja vu. This wasn't the first time I was having one of those episodes. I had had one before when I was doing homework and i looked down at my phone and i felt it happening again, so I walked out of the room i was in and i told my close friend and he said i didn't look so good and told me to sit down. My mom hasn't taken me to a doctor yet, but personally I would have taken my child to a hospital by now, I have been experiencing these episodes for a while now.
