Deja vu

Tue, 04/05/2005 - 08:00

Hi, my name is Lisa and this is my first time posting.  I am 39 years and a mother of two daughters.  About 18 months ago, I had two experiences of deja vu.  After the deju vu feeling passed, I had a strange feeling in my stomach (like being on a rollercoaster).  These deja vu experiences were about a week apart and I believe only lasted a second or two.  About two weeks after these deja vu experiences and had a "doom" feeling.  I was in the bathroom and this intense feeling of dread happenned followed by that strange feeling in my stomach.  After these incidents I feel very "foggy" and tired.  I called my family practioner and he ordered an MRI which was "normal" and showed no lesions.  He asked if I wanted to see a neurologist but I declined because I thought it would never happen again.  Well it did--last Friday I had two more episodes of Deja Vu, once when I was laying in  bed and again about an hour later.  I know they were deja vu and at the time intense, however I cannot remember what the particular dream sequence was.  I called my family practioner and he has referred me to a neurolgist that specializes in seizure disorders.  I cannot get into the neurologist until late May? Am I on the right track here?  should I request certain tests?  does an EEG only show irregularities while having a seizure?  Also, I am afraid to drive in case one of these episodes occur.  Thanks!

Did the "deja vu" ever get better or worse?

Submitted by johnnyw on Sat, 2019-01-26 - 16:57
Hi Zoe, I've been experiencing the same symptoms off and on for last few years; I'm 30, male, and therefore I have obviously not given birth :). Your description of the feeling is the closest I've come across to my own experience. It's like I'm remembering a dream or a memory from an experience or life I've forgotten--and in the immediate aftermath, my actual surroundings feel strange or unfamiliar. Sometimes it will happen while I'm laying in bed with my partner and I just freeze and wait it for it to pass because everything around me feels so unfamiliar. I also get achey and sometimes nauseous after it passes. So, I noticed you posted this a few years ago. Have the symptoms gotten better or worse? Anything help? Any tips for making them less frequent? Thanks! Johnny

Hi all, I have read most of the post's on this forum and i find it all very interesting really. I am a 19 year old Male who suffered a traumatic head injury in 2007, the docs gave me a 35% chance of living and if i did survive i would have some intense reprocutions, like epilepsy, blindness anything they didnt know. in 2009 i started having theese deja vuu feelings just that they have become alot more regular yesterday i had 7, wednesday i had 4 tuesday i had another 6 i have been keeping a track of howmany i am having, i have been doing my research and i believe that it could bve due to nutrition because of the "MAL" Pettit seizure. and yes i do drink, smoke, smoke weed but theese are things i have done all my life, should i seek doctors advice or just leave it?? please comment be back im rather worried because no one else seems to be suffering them as much as me.

I can relate yet I still don

I can relate yet I still don't know what it is. My left side of my body goes numb and I drop everything I was holding but I have yet to faint. It's almost as if I'm about to pass out! I put my hands above my head and breathe deeply. You know treat it like it's a panic attack. Sugar doesn't help. Eating and repeating sounds seem to trigger it. Other than that I have no idea what triggers it. :/ I get up to 9 in a single day OVER A 3 DAY PERIOD. It's the worst.  A lot of the times it happens I am at work.  It's kind of like my brain is tricking me into thinking I already know what everyone is going to say. I get them in my sleep too. When I'm awake can I get them it's like I dreamt about it the night before. Like someone will say something to me while it's happening and I already know what they're going to say and it makes me feel  even more sick the more I can recognize it
