Any advise as I am new to this as to how not to become an over protective mother to my 10 year old with epilepsy? I seem to worry all the time about her though mostly I TRY NOT TO SHOW IT. DO YOU GET MORE RELAXED AS TIME GOES BY.SHE HASNT HAD A SEIZURE FOR A FEW MONTHS NOW BUT I AM ON EDGE JUST WAITING FOR IT TO HAPPEN - SHE HAS GRAND MAL SEIZURES AND IT IS REALLY SCARY.

What do you have engraved on the medic alert necklace? I am getting one for my son and I am not sure how much information to put on it. Thanks. Chris

The website is www.medicalert.org You provide all the needed information, such as contact people, doctors, medication, and diagnosis. If an emergency should occur the medics call the 1-800 number on the bracelet/necklace, and give medicalert the ID#. The emergency personel are given all of that information. Medic alert decides based on the information you give them what to put on the back. In my daughters case it says "seizure disorder, mitral valve prolapse". I like the fact that if I am not around they can have all emergency contact information, including her doctors and what medications she is on. Lori

On my son's I have engraved: Epilepsy, Takes Tegretol and Hemiparesis. They are small and don't give much room so I made it as short as possible. Jenn
