We had another one

Hi,
Well here we go again. My 8 year old daughter that had had her first big seizure Nov 21 had one yesterday. It was strange because it happened about the same time as the first one. About 6:45am. This time she was getting dressed in her room and all of a sudden my 10 year old daughter comes running out of the bedroom screaming she is having a seizure. I got in the room and she had slid down and was squating down against the bed. So I got her and laid her on the bed on her side. It lasted about a minute maybe two. We got her awake and she came out of it just fine. I am scared that the seizures could kill her. Her breathing was not as bad this time. And she came out of it good, but I am still so scared. They have uped her meds to 4 in the morning and 5 at night. She is on Lamictal 25mg. But it is still scary.

I hope that all is well with you and especially Rebeka. Sorry that it took so long to write back but we had a not so great Dr. appt. and I needed a little time to process things. I pray the Rebeka is still doing well. Claire is about the same- she has a seizure about every 4 days. Her neuro wants to really push up the Lamictal so we've been increasing it weekly. She is up to 150 mg am and pm - our goal is 200 mg am and pm. We'll see. In the meantime, our dr. has also referred us to an epilepologist to start persuing other options like the VNS or surgery. I am trying to keep an open mind about this - but I have always had a hard time thinking about any kind of surgical intervention. I guess we'll see. When does Rebekah have her MRI? We'll keep her in our prayers. Take care.

Hi Kim,
We are doing great right now. Rebeka hasn't had a seizure in almost 5 weeks. (Tomorrow to be exact). I am hoping since they uped her meds that has helped. She just had her 9 birthday. She had a great party and lots of fun. We go back for our MRI on April 25. at 1. I hope things go good for Claire I will keep her in my prayers. And also you. It is hard on the kids but it is also so hard on the parents too. To watch your child go through that kind of thing. I will be praying for you.

Hi Kim, How are things going? They are going great so far. We haven't had a grand mal since Feb 28. I am hoping we won't have anymore. Rebeka has never had a MRI. But we have had a EEG back in Feb of 05. We will go and get a MRI in April. How is Claire doing? Rebeka's EEG came back abnormal also. But so far so good. No grand mals. I am keeping my fingers crossed. Have a good week. Jeana
