Vimpat side effect itchy and severe dry skin

Mon, 04/10/2017 - 07:15
Hi, I have been on Vimpat for almost two years and am now reducing this because I get terribly itchy from it. Especially on my scalp, neck and arms it is so bad I'm scratching all day long and it is turning me crazy. Last week I stopped with Vimpat completely (now taking Keppra 1500mg twice a day), but the itching seems to be only worse then before. Does my body have to get used to not taking Vimpat anymore and will it get better over time? I'm wondering if anyone has experienced something similar. Thank you, Danique

I take depakote and vimpat.

I take depakote and vimpat. At first I thought it was from the depakote. So I tried to lower the dose and had a sizure. Then my doctor added the vimpat and my skin still itches if I try to walk or exercise. Allegra D doesn't always help. And I still get seizures a few times a year because I have epileptic tissue from my brain caused by brain surgery.
