Trileptal, really starting to question it.

Thu, 11/16/2006 - 22:54
my daughter lauren is age 9 and has epilepsy. She was placed on trileptal last Feb and was doing great on it, now all of a sudden she is having absence seizures and there are times when she is a difficult child. I almost at times want to take her off the medication and see if I get my daughter back. but I know that I can't do that, just wishful thinking. I would love to hear from others who are either on trileptal or have a child on it. To find out what kind of side effects they experienced. or maybe if anyone knows of a different anti-convulsant medicine without some of these side effects. Would appreciate any help I can get. I'm on Trileptal. I have concentration and memory problems. But, I had those before the Trileptal. As far as I know, I haven't had any side-effects, but I'm not a child. On the other hand, it seems to have quit working as well as of last Thursday. Those altered states and putrid smell are back. The smell is awful. But, I'm just living with it until my next appointment (2 weeks) to see what can be done. It's frustrating. Anyhow, that's my experience. I'm no more grouchy or happy than usual because I know no one else can smell what I smell. On the other hand, if I'm frustrated, how must it feel to a child!!! Talk to your doctor. Good Luck and Blessings to you all. "I just want to live happily ever after every now and then." Jimmy Buffett
