hi there

I just started topamax last week, i was on carbamazapine for six years and put on nearly 3 stone in weight and asked to come off it to get thin again but got the shock of my life by getting these tingling effects!    My arms, legs and my full face all day.    The only time I dont' get it is when i'm sleeping.     I don't want to come off then because when i was on the carbamazapine i was constantly hungry.    I would wake atleast twice at night to eat a snack or sleep walk and eat in my sleep and find bits of food in my bed (honestly for 6 years) this has not  once happened since topamax, no broken sleep.

I noticed that you mentioned that you are using potassium is that working for you?  Or do you think the tingling side effects eventually will go away through time of the drug being in your system for so long and you getting used to it.  thanks liz

So I don't have Epilepsy, but I have massive migraines and came across what you said Allison, and I have to say, it is reassuring to hear that your taste for pop is coming back. I was so disappointed when that disappeared. I have been on Topamax for about 2 1/2 months and lost 10 pounds. I have terrible tingling in both my hands and feet. However, I still get a migraine almost every other day. So I just wanted to say thank you for the idea about the potassium supplements.

You are better off in eating foods that are high in potassium. Potassium supplements is not a good idea. They can cause some side effects. Magnesium, calcium, omega three can help. But I would seek professional help before making any changes. For even vitamins can make a change in our seizure meds. take care Lisa Http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/epilepsyapproach/
