Topamax- what kind of side effects do you experience?

Hi shygirl,
I was hoping to see some responses but I guess I am the first. I am sorry to say that I made my doctor take me off Topamax after being on it for about 3 months. At first I thought it was great. It put me to sleep at night and I slept well for a while. But then, even with increassed dosages, it seemed to stop working. I was getting bad headaches (which now I think was from dehydration) as well as loss of memory, bad fatigue and that just added to my stress. I have a very stressful job and this was making things worse.When I had 3-4 sleepless nights in a row I called my doctor and told him to take me off. It has taken about 2 1/2 weeks but last night was my first without the drug. I am still on 1200mg of Trileptal a day.
I am going to try to deal with the lightheadedness, and anxiety attackes and the restlessness in some other way. I do not think the medical community really understands this disease and all its symptoms and forms. I think this support sight offer some calm in our lives and I am greatful I found it.

I went on Topamax years ago - I found that I suffered from absolutely hideous bleeding of the gums - I'd wake up with a horrible metallic taste and my mouth full of blood. It was a shame, as it worked well otherwise.

same here - KIDNEY STONES
The 5th time I had them I went off Topamax. Topa really help with my seizures. Sorry I had to go off Topa. Kidney Stones have a lot-lot of pain .
