Does anybody take Keppra on its own to control Juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy? I thought it was just an add on and it does not seem to be working totally.

Hi, You are right in that Keppra was initially approved as add-on therapy for partial seizures. Research has been going on for it's use in other forms of seizures as well, same for many of the other drugs initially approved for partial seizures. If you look at research articles, you can see lots of the work being done on many of the seizure meds. Talk to your doctor about his or her feelings on the drug's effectiveness and use in different seizure types. Also the dose.. Some people respond to low doses, while others respond to higher doses. Your doctor will know best how to dose this with you and keep an eye out for side effects too. Good luck Epilepsy.com Resource Specialist

just started keppra today! have only ever had 3 clonic tonics and went throught a pregnancy seizure-free and medication free with doc's help. then, went on depakote and lamictol--had a major rash---so they stopped all meds and put me on Keppra--let me know what you think. kelly
