Is it safe to go to the beach when you are anti-seizure meds?

Fri, 08/12/2005 - 13:09

Alot of you know Hubby is on two different meds right now (Dilantin and Lamictal) and in the middle of going off Dilantin and going onto Lamictal. He wants to go to the shore and spend time alone with me since our 4 kids are away. Im too afraid that the sunshine adn all the meds he is on will make him sick. Can this happen?

My son was on it for a long time and he worked out in the hot sun and played with his friends he was just fine. GO ENJOY LIFE IT TOO SHORT TO WORRY he knows when he has had enough.

yeah am going to echo most of the other replies on this. be smart about lotion and total time out but enjoy life. it's too short to sit at home and worry about szs. i ride a bike daily. being active is the best med i have. good luck

regardless of the medication if he is in dirrect sunlight for an extended amount of time chances are he will have a seizure.  I would say You can still go on your vacation just be cautious in the sun don't be out there for longer then 45 mins to an hour to be on the safe side. I went to california a few years ago and I have had epilepsy for 14 years and I still had a blast even thought I had to watch my sunshine time. even if you do go focus more on having fun rather then what could go wrong. just follow your precautions. Good Luck!
