Is it safe to go to the beach when you are anti-seizure meds?

Fri, 08/12/2005 - 13:09

Alot of you know Hubby is on two different meds right now (Dilantin and Lamictal) and in the middle of going off Dilantin and going onto Lamictal. He wants to go to the shore and spend time alone with me since our 4 kids are away. Im too afraid that the sunshine adn all the meds he is on will make him sick. Can this happen?

wonderful  advice!

Live each day to your fullest.

Just take the necessary precautions.   And enjoy your time  alone.

Yes let him enjoy life like everyone else he'll know when it's time to get out of the sun or he's had enough and it's time to take a break. I'll lay on the beach for a while, swim for a while go for walks and when I get tired I go either back home or if we are on vacation back to the hotel.I know it must be hard not to stop worrying about him but you have to let him live like you as much as possible. When the drugs don't work change them, it's just be sensible not over reactive. It's sometimes easier on us than the others, we are thankful for your caring.

I'm new to this site, but what jstrfic had to say just about summed it up. One thing I would like to say to Adam. I was on Dialintin & Tegretol until 1994. My doctor then put me on Felbatol and later added Topomax and Clorazepate. I was seeing double like Adam if I took medications too close together. Taking me off those two medications was the best thing that Dr. could do.
