Medications and Sex

Sat, 03/10/2007 - 12:29
Hi, I was just wondering if anyone knows which medication(s) may produce the most sexual side effects. I am on 4 different medications and my sexual desire went way down to just about nothing. I don't know what pill is doing this to me (and I know it is the drugs). My boyfriend is getting so frustrated with it as well as I am, but I don't know what to do. Does anyone have any idea which medication may have produced this more than the other medications? If you are having the same problem, which drugs are you taking? Can someone please help me?

Hi. I am on Lamictal, Trileptal, Keppra and Lyrica. I have talked to my doctor and she had suggested that maybe it could be something that a OBGYN would be able to help with. I haven't talked to my Gyno about it yet. My doctor also said that she has had numerous patients inquire about the same problem and it is more than likely the medication being the problem. Though since everybody is different and everybody has different reactions to medicines, she can't say for sure that that is my problem.

Seems like most Epilepsy and Depression medicines reduce your sex drives. I'm on Keppra, Trileptal and Celexa. The Celexa I was told reduces peoples sex drives up to 65% and Trileptal and Keppra do have a way of lowering a persons libido so when medinces work the sex drive is cut off. Back in the 80s I was on Mysoline and Tegretol and both meds were cutting down each others function so my seizures were not being helped, but because the meds didn't work my sex drive was regular or high sometimes. Now that I have working medicines no drive at all. Epilepsy, still a mystery to many. Having seizures does not mean we are less of a person, just different. We are capable of loving and being loved.
