I've been on Keppra 1 month now. Was taking 500 mg 2 x per day for two weeks and then my doctor upped it to 750 2 x per day. I can't tell if I'm having side effects or just down because of the no driving and epilepsy diagnosis. I do know that I noticed the first two weeks a loss of appetite, dizziness, and fatigue. I feel myself talking to people but not really being focused on the conversation. I was the same way walking sometimes too. I have to focus just to walk straight. The inability to focus was bad enough that I called my neuro last week. He thinks I need to just adjust to the meds. Also, for the past two Fridays, I find that I'm just really depressed and I'm down about everything. Last week it led to a huge fight with my husband cause I was mad at him for a number of different reasons. Probably the largest fight I've had with him in 2 years. I don't know if I'm more sensitive and irritable because of the meds or what. This week I do feel a little more back to normal on the dizziness/concentration issue though.

Hi Andy I have just finished taking Keppra just over 2 weeks ago. I was taking 3000mg of it a day along with various other meds over the past few years. I've been trying out different meds in the last few years including keppra. The only med that I have been taking since I was a child is Tegretol Retard. But this is not enough on it's own to control my seizures. Keppra improved my condition when I started taking it but did not control my seizures 100%. But because it helped and other meds did not agree with me I stayed on it. Wasn't until I came across topamax I found a huge improvement first time ever! I still have auras but the grand mals have lessened significantly and the auras are less too even though I still have them weekly. It was agrred between myself and my neuro that I would stay on 2 meds only if I can. So when topamax came along, I gradually came off keppra once happy with topamax. I'm now off keppra just over two weeks, and I have noticed more auras than usual but I am not sure if this is because of the keppra or because I had been working alot lately and not getting enough rest? Only time will tell. We'll see!
